Since I have gigged primarily with Rics at hundreds of shows now, I can tell you with confidence they sound and hold up great. Hard rock maple is a tough, durable wood with a great sound. There's a reason it's the most common wood used for necks.
The nice thing about Rickenbacker is all of their maple is sustainably farmed. Trees are grown for ~10 years and harvested if I remember correctly.
If I ever do a parts bass I will probably use a maple body, even if it's a Precision-style, etc. |
