Mayones Custom Shop Newspaper Bass

This popped up on my Seymour Duncan FB page this morning. I think it is pretty awesome - I'd definitely rock it. I particularly like that they did this to the fret board as well and not just the body. I'm not sure what newspaper clippings I'd use. What would you put on yours? This would be a really unique opportunity to customize a bass outside of woods, aesthetics etc...

That's sweet! I don't know what clippings would be best for it...maybe some older clippings about "up and coming" bands like the Stones or the Beatles, or obits of bassists, or maybe reviews of concerts.

Hmm... couple of car and beer advertisements and the announcement of Elvis's death. Interesting combo. I'm not sure what I would go with just yet.

I get confused easily with fingerboard graphics- then after a year and I was playing some other bass, I'd be all like "where's that high F that had the crow picture over it" and I'd make mistakes in a live setting...

Yeah, I think the fretboard might be a bit too much (for me, I agree it would be a distraction), but overall I dig it.

I wish they'd have posted a pic of the whole bass.

Really like the body. Really interesting idea.

Here's one without the fretboard and a full length pic.

I would totally dig up something published in Roswell circa 1947.

I like it. I'd want comic strips (or cutouts from an old comic book).

I like that idea, but I'd probably just go straight with comics and get Doomsday beating Superman to death or something epic like the death of Superman.

I have 30 or so of these old Micronauts comics which aren't worth anything but would look great for this application.

My buddy did a Telecaster like this with ticket stubs from every concert he ever went to. Wish I had a pic.
