MIM P-bass hollowbody fretless?

Many years ago, I purchased a MIM Fender f-hole fretless at Speno Music in Auburn, NY. It had a set neck and P-pup, plus a piezo pup, white pickguard, sunburst finish, and nylon-wrapped strings. When I thought the neck was cracked, I sold it back to Speno and never saw another one like it ever again. Not even on the 'net. I want it back. Anyone seen one like it? It was such an oddball I'm kicking myself in the teeth for letting it go. :banghead:

You couldn't have looked too hard:

Semi-hollow body Precision bass

Not MIM.
Fender Japan Precision A/E; google that

There were both fretted and fretless versions.
Mahogany body, spruce top. Neat bass.
Cafe Walter makes a buffer for the piezo that makes that work out much more nicely.

Here's what I did with one:

I have seen these. Mine was definitely MIM, and it had a standard p-bass pickguard and sunburst finish. Although very similar, I am not even sure it was 100% Fender. I didn't have a digital.camera back then and all my film photos are lost. I really wish I had kept some kind or record of it.

I remember specifically that it was MIM because two or three people told me that they were prone to neck cracks at the hell due to the climate difference. A Fender service center told me that the Japanese models held up much better in the northeastern climates than the Mexican ones.

Also, those Japanese models are MUCH prettier than mine was. It was top-loaded and the routing was covered by the ugly white pickguard. The bridge/saddle was also top-loaded with acoustic guitar pegs. The neck was set, not bolt-on. The heel was thick and I couldn't even reach the 20th fret mark with my thumb around it. And although it was very light, it was incredibly uncomfortable.

Today it would have made a better wall decoration than a playable instrument.

Gorgeous, but that reversed tailpiece is bothering the OCD in me!

It matches the one on my 72 Tele, that came that way from the factory.
Can't change that one, since the paint has faded to match the location; so, I made them both the same.
