MK Dragonfly 5 Problem

I own 2 acoustic 5's. The Michael Kelly is of course gorgeous and almost keeps up with an acoustic guitar unplugged but, when amplified the B string is very weak. No matter how I tweek the EQ on my amps or the Fishman pre it is a whisper while the rest of the strings are a roar.

My (much less expensive) JB Player acoustic 5 with the generic pre is effortless to EQ and get equal across all strings.

Anyone have this model or this problem?

Uneven amplified response between strings is not an uncommon problem on acoustic guitars with undersaddle piezo pickups. It can usually be fixed by having a tech sand/adjust the bottom of the saddle so that there's more even pressure on the pickup from each of the strings.

I had the same problem w/ an MK 5 Acoustic, I forget which model.

My luthier at the time tried reworking the saddle w/ mixed results.

We came up w/ a solution that worked Great.

He split the saddle into 5 segments, 1 per string.

It then had even volume and tone on all 5 strings.

I have since done that on other problematic AE basses w/ good result.

Perhaps try it on a replacement saddle and tuck the original in the case....
