My first stop would be www.bestbassgear.com. Good prices, quick shipping and comprehensive information concerning dimensions, etc.
What's in there now? If EMGs, then these are the ones you want: http://www.bestbassgear.com/bartolin...5c-pickups.htm. Double check dimensions to be sure.

Yes, currently I have EMGs |

Very much more sharp an Edgey sounding.. Much different basses with way different woods for each, but very distinctive between the Barts and EMG's

Yes, currently I have EMGs | That doesn't mean that the Barts available from other sources won't sound good. BBG has lots of styles available that will fit. Otherwise, it's not worth your time to post here. Just call Modulus and order the pickups and let us know how it turns out.
I've had Lane Poors, Barts and EMGs in my Moduli. My favs were the LPs but they were noisy. So, I'm going to try some SGD pickups.

| | | Got my first modulus it's a 1997 flea with lane poor pickup. Want to be apart of the mob! Lol. Anyone know what kind of treble pot I need to order. It was replaced with a regular pot when it needs a dent pot. |

It was soooo clean sounding that I couldn't get used to it. I had Jack Read take them out and put the Barts back in - LOL.
Those Lane Poor are really special pickups if you're looking for crystal clear clarity. |

| | (a.k.a. Black Bart) | | | | I don't know, I tried several different pickups in my FU4, including a great Delano, but when I found a Lane Poor, I had to jump on it.
Ripped out the OBP-3, which I couldn't stand because of the high frequency noise, popped in a Flexcore pre for two pickups and dropped in the split Lane Poor MM. That's right, single pup with a blend control.
I was looking for crystal clarity, hence why I tried the Delano, but the LP is just another animal, in a good way. Paired with the Mike Pope pre, I finally have the sound I was searching for when I purchased an FU4.

First I thought the problem was with the Baer ML112 cab I was trying out so I returned it. Then I thought it was my GK heads (700RB and 1001RB) so I sold the 1001RB and got a Tone Hammer 500. But the problem seems to happen with different heads and different cabs so that brings the trail back to the bass.
I had been considering a Mike Pope (or Fodera) preamp so this may be the impetus I need to make the change.
Thanks for sharing. |

Thanks for sharing. | I went through four different pickups on the FU4 and the whine was always there with the OBP-3.
I would highly recommend the Flexcore, it really opened up the bass tonally and also doesn't have the annoying whine, very quiet even with the treble on full boost.

I'm going to replace all of the pots first and see if that doesn't resolve my problem before trying a different preamp. Quote:
