The only basses I've tried with soapbars have used two.. bridge and neck. I've never liked the tone of them solo. But the placement is a midway point it seems.. maybe that works better..

I like none of them.
So in this case it's a " no thank you" . |

( Q4, GVJ 4, VJ fretless 4 ) and love them all. This bass just seems to be a wild stab at "something"...I'm just not sure what? Single pickup in the sweet spot says Funk Unlimited to me. So really, isn't it a Funk Unlimited with a different body shape? Again, this only my humble opinion.
FYI, no talk of a five...YET!

That being said, our standards of quality are the same for this bass as they are for every Modulus instrument.

Modulus Guitars | Kudos to you and your crew for not employing more questionable tactics in offering a lower-priced instrument with the same quality expected of the Modulus name.

most people that add darkstars route out the bass they add them to anyway so I dont think having a single pickup in there would be the problem. If the routing for the current pickup is much larger then the darkstar.. .then that would be something to worry..
also the bass is top routed using the pickgaurd as the cover for the pots and such. Its a design that fender started to help with production costs and time saver too. Much easier to be able to prewire everything directly on the pickgaurd and then just screw everything in when needed. also makes for an easy bass to mod if someone would like to.

Two suggestions:
1) A fiver is a must. These days, fivers are the common currency among boutique bass buyers. Sure, statistically a larger number of bass buyers in general still buy 4-bangers, but I'd argue that they are not likely to be the customer for a $2K graphite futuristic thing. You gotta offer it as a 5'er.
2) The plain black is OK to have as one choice, but I strongly hope there will be at least a couple other finish choices. I really like the KLD surface appearance, so a sort of left-field idea I had was that you could offer that as a body "finish" as well. I think it would look sweet. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
