Not sure about the "whole world", but I'll nominate my Pedulla Thunderbass as a looker particularly once I replace the stack knobs with ones that match the single knobs.

Not a bass, although not entirely a guitar. Still somewhat elegant, eh?

I love the way my 1983 Ibanez Roadstar looks.

Finally someone agrees with me on elegance - the Precision (influenced) bass. Bonus points for the natural finish.

For me an elegant solution means form follows function with no excess geegaws (that's a technical term ) so I'm going with with the Steinberger L2, CR4-esque line, and Gittler as the most elegant.

My idea of elegant...

84 Tobias omega cut

Brubaker KXB-6 Custom fretless

Brubaker JXB-6 Custom. Maple with a $50 Myrtlewood top (and $50+ Brazilian Rosewood board)

This is my favorite angle...

A workingman's tools

Apropos the stipulations upthread that to qualify as "elegance," form has to follow function, here are a couple to consider.

First up: 1995 Ken Smith CR-5 with zebra top. Yes, the grain pops, but the uniform pattern keeps it from crossing over into "ostentatious."

[IMG][/IMG]

And here's my 2008 EBMM Sterling 5 in Medallion Gold. Yeah, the gold's a little flashy, but I think it dresses up the Sterling's lines without overdressing them.

[IMG][/IMG]

And while I'm at at, aw, what the heck--dig that straight-grained maple. No Birdseye here!

Personally, I think the Schecter Baron H comes to mind.
