That is a killer looking bass... and the price was INSANE!
Thanks. The bass has some problems.
The builder was not a bass player at
the time he built the bass. He played
it for three years and decided to play
double bass, so be built a DB bass
and sold this one to me cheap. The
case was customized for this bass,
so he let the case go too.

The neck has a warp at the body.

I am taking that down and will have
to make it fretless because there is
not enough room to cut the fret
grooves.

It was a great deal because the
case alone sells for over $100.

You are wright about the redheart
of course.

Can we blame it on a senior monebt?

Damn, why cant I find these deals anywhere. Im 22 and I dream of finding a nice old J with mojo and just gingerly play it every week and baby it till I'm 60. I dont think many people my age will appreciate old instruments in the future and I want to keep a piece of history alive. Like a traveling dollar bill an instrument has so many stories, owners, and has a spiritual energy that cant be described

I just missed a 1967 Yamaha SB-5A for $40 by about 10 minutes.

Don't tell me about karma. I've met karma.

Back in 1979 when I started college and was driving back and forth between Michigan and New York on weekends, I decided I needed a case for traveling with my POS P-Bass knock-off. I went to a pawn shop in Flint. The counter guy just pointed me to a stack of cases and said "if ya find one that fits, $65".

So I tried out a couple cases, putting my POS P-bass knock-off in each to see which one fit best. I picked up this one case and it felt heavy. I hollered to the guy..."I'll take this one!", happily gave him $65, and beat feet. When I got to my dorm room I opened it to find a cream colored Fender Jazz Bass. Enjoyed it for quite some time. Then one weekend I left it at my best friend / drummer's house in Buffalo, since I knew I'd be back the next week. Also wanted to avoid the occasional hassle I was getting at US / Canadian Customs.

That week, their house got burglarized. Bye-bye Jazz Bass. Karma, thy bite doth sting.

Still turned out ok, though. Their home-owner's insurance spotted me $700 for a new bass. It went toward a then brand spankin' new Music Man Sabre that I held onto until 1999.
