Which Fender signature bass best represents the artist? I'm talking about the uniqueness of the bass and how it relates to the look and sound of the artist's main bass or the bass that artist is mainly known for.
I just picked up a Marcus and although I dont normally go for sig basses I think this one is a keeper. It got me to thinking about this subject.
Well have at it!

Of course the Franklin is a real nice bass too.

EDIT: roscoe beck. Stu hamm's urge bass was wacky too.

Are you looking for one that is the closest representation to the actual bass the artist uses, or the bass that most represents the Artist, himself.
IMO, that would make me give two different answers.

MM - the silly pickguard
GL - Black n Maple (with blocks/binding) - I've heard folks refer to almost any bass with that combo as a "Geddy"
SH - Royal blue metallic & the mirror guard
People often refer to sunburst, 60's ish Jazzes as "Jaco-esq" but it's way too common a finish - but they do reming me of Jaco...
Dusty should have a Furry Sig...

IMO, that would make me give two different answers. | I think the one that is most "signature" would have to take both into account but I think it would lean more toward representing the artists sound and look.

| | Yeah, I've got the moves like Jagger. | | Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: G.R. MI | | | I'd say the Stu Hamm sig is the most sig of them all.
I know I'm partial because I play one, but the next siggiest sig would be the Hoppus. The P PUP in a J body thing is fairly unique.

If you changed the neck (MIA vs MIM) and colors on the originals it WOULD be his custom bass. The look is pretty special/specific, the tone is spot on, and the vibe is apparent. His new models are stupid close to his most recent Fender CS order.....
Based on the above, I think the Jaco comes in a close second. Although I'm not too versed on the tone of the production models.....
