MTD KZ5 - Upgrades?

I just bought the MTD KZ5 and really love the feel of it. My issues are how weak the pup's and pre are. My main bass is a Lakland 55-01 with the Bartolini MK-1 pup's and pre. The Lakland has way more overall output. What pup's and pre are recommended as replacements? I was thinking Nordstrand Big Splits as a start then add a pre later..... opinions????

I had a KZ6 and put Bart PU in it and left the stock preamp.... Sounded killer.

The only other thing I MIGHT change is the bridge...mi really didn't like the stock bridge.
