I haven't seen any available at any of the online stores but the color is an available color on the EB website. Can anyone recommend a retailer that takes orders or how do I go about getting mine built to my color spec? Does BassCentral do this? Thanks All

Though there's a real nice 4HS as new natural in the TB classifieds I highly recommend. |

Don't know the year off hand. I'll have to look it up later.
Anyone ever add a single-coil neck pickup to one?
I dis-like the HS that is stock on the "newer" ones and was thinking of dropping in a Jazz pick-up. (Add a stacked knob for vol/pan)

The burning question is why did not I buy one these sooner! Just love the tone and the play-ability of these basses. They are so easy to play. Here is my two from last nights gig, got good use out of both. |

I like the bridge pup single coil sound you get on Jazz basses (and derivatives) but I also like MM basses.
Maybe I'll pick up one of the sbmm models and mod it.

The Sterling has FOUR rows of pickups vs the Big AL having 3 BTW. Pickup switch > buttons too

I have to admit that it's easy to make mistakes with pickup selections on the Big Al, but it is still my number one. Essentially, the Big Al is capable of 16 different sounds (8 pickup combinations in active and passive) while the Sterling can only produce 5. In the end, the Big Al can sound modern, but nowhere near as modern and aggressive as a Sterling.
Also, I think it's fun to note that essentially the Big Al is was BP originally wanted the Sterling to be, but the technology at the time didn't allow him to realize his vision. The Sterling would've had three single-coils and a 5-way switch.
