Guys, I saw a Stingray HH SLO for sale at Guitar Center. Is the only difference between this and the normal HH the Sterling neck?

With those DR HIGH BEAMS I had it cranked all controls to bass with no treble and it still sounded off a bit?

We shall see...

Let me know what you think of those! I tried the High Beams on my JazzV and didn't like them either (like at all)... made that bass have a little too much "honk" for my taste.

Got you in at #299! I don't know enough about the differences to know how the epoxy preamp would change things though.

Morning Mister Gecko!

Well I got them in the mail, then talked with the seller on feebay and decided to send the fat beams back.
It turns out they are not what I am looking for...
I guess he said they are still on the brighter side...as many stainless strings are....He said they would not cure the brightness problem.

So I have having him exchange them for DR "NICKLE" Low riders.
Will give them a go.
I know I have always loved the tried and true Rotosound round wound Nickle Strings 45-105.
So worst comes to worst I will put those on if these are not to my liking.
It gets old blowing $30-40-50?... bucks trying out strings and not liking them. Sometimes it is best to just stick with what you KNOW will work for you're ear.

Since the EBMM club is not giving out numbers, here's mine. Vintage sunburst, roasted neck, HH. Added some EB strap locks recently.



BTW, since I'm new here, no need for a number. But if one is given, feel free to skip the 300 if someone else wants it.

That is very sweet.

I just gave myself a fire roasted look on my Standard Stingray. The neck was discolored from playing and I could not get it all one color after sanding/steel wool/wood cleaner so I applied some light stain and got it all one color. I let that dry and then applied some boiled linseed oil and I'm back in business.

I'll try to post some pics when I get a chance.

I wouldn't change out the original MM preamp...but that's not my bass. I've just always figured on the older classics that if it isn't my cup-o-tea then I should look for another bass. Just IMHO.
