Ok, I just almost fell off my desk chair!
Have you guys seen this new limited edition Classic Stingray?
they are making a 200 limited run of these.
They are a pre order scenario, for delivery in mid November-ish?
The store where I bought my new Big Al are taking orders.
I temped to sell the house and order one....hahaha!!
Only a mere $1,939.00 sheckles for one.....OUCH!!!
( Ya think the wifey would mind the house gone? )
Here is some of the dealer info on the bass.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
" They are essentially a Classic 4 in white with gold flake that we call "Gilded White" ( similar to Black Sugar but with white instead of black). The entire neck is Gilded White. They all feature gold hardware and best of all... they're both active and passive! The last knob (closest to the bridge) is a push/pull pot. When it's in the down position the bass is active and the knob doesn't do anything. When you pull the knob up the bass goes passive and that knob acts as a tone knob.
All of the other Classic features are there ; slab ash body, 2 band EQ, string through bridge with mute kit, truss rod wheel, classic skinny frets, classic skinny nut, classic Music Man decal logo and a 7.5" radius on the neck. "

AMAZING. i don't really care for the white with the pearloid, but it's still a sick ray. what i can't get over is the active/passive though. if only i had money..

Warwick has used it for years.
Hope they offer this on other Stingrays besides this limited edition for nearly 2 grand.

But the active/passive thing - cooool... |

I just about peed myself. lol If the 5-string version had a maple fretboard (to match my current 5HH of course!)........ to quote Van Wilder, I'd be all over it like a fat kid on a cupcake! Whew!
And holy crap: only 50 4-strings/25 5-strings in the U.S.?!
That active/passive thing is a nice feature for sure. It's surprising that more builders don't do that. My Stambaugh has that and Carvin's been doing that for a while too.
#307 for The Mouse, welcome!

5sg. | hahahah well glad ya held it in man....or it would have been a depends moment for ya.
This is one of those basses ya buy to take out and play once in awhile and admire...Not gig with it and beat it into toothpicks...
I would love one ...but cannot see me laying down for one.

| | | I'm in !
Was about to pull the trigger on a classic 4, when I found this :
1990 ray (second part of 1990 : 6 bolts), perfect neck, lots of dings on the body, but I don't care...
All in all, a classic except it's a top loader and not a string through, with 20 years old wood, and for half the price too... |

Same reason I didn't buy a Heritage B15. I'd be afraid to gig with it. I do gig my Stingray occasionally... but never in a bar.
Jay, thanks for posting that bass again. It's truly a worthy cause and a one-in-a-million bass! Very classy and much respect.
Thomas, #308 for you! The dings make it sound better, right?
