Also, I see a lotta love for 5SG's GC edition white 5 string with the gold hardware. Just FYI, there is the same( or very similar Stingray at the Gc in orange, Ct. Now I don't really mess whith 5ers much ( yet), so I can't detail if there any flaws or if its the exact same bass( I didn't play it) but figured I'd let all you GASers know. Not sure on the price, but I wanna say 15 or 16, if I remember correctly.

Thanks, she's definitely a beauty! I fell in love with her at first sight.

She was tagged at $1750 and I snagged her on the President's Day Weekend sale in '09... $250 off. Cha ching! It wasn't my normal store, I went into the GC closer to work for strings for a friend's guitar and happened to see her. The clerk was a jerk to begin with, but I think he was pissed at me for snagging it with the coupon (like he lost his commission or something?), and then got all sorts of pissy with me when I asked if he'd throw in a $30 strap. I ended up buying the strap, straplocks and new strings (and I know I know, I still came out ahead... lol) ... but he lost all of my future business for the entire store. But I got my baby!

$1500-1600 would be a pretty good price for a similar limited edition 5'er. Ernie Ball wouldn't give me exact production numbers, but I do know they didn't make a lot. And you can't get gold hardware even on custom orders.

5sg.

Yeah, I don't usually go to GC either( not a big fan of mega stores, even if it is for music) but I was trying to decide on a new bass for this years tax season. I've been torn between a Lakland 44-02 or a Stingray. No Laklands to play around here, an GC is the only local store with MM's, which I fell in love with. Hence my new honeyburst beauty.

I think you should get a number based on that bad-ass Rover alone.

Thanks!

I gotta have something to carry my stingray around with, and you never know where you'll be asked to play. There aren't many venues in the area I can't get to with the rover.

Does anyone have experience of a Classic Ray with a rosewood board? How do they differ in terms of finish compared to the Classic Ray with maple board?

I have seen a very deep dark rosewood Classic Ray...I was going to wait for a maple to show up, but it looks fantastic and is a good price.

What do you mean in terms of finish? I have a Classic w/ RW board, very dark at the point that I thought it was ebony. In this picture there's a flash that makes it less dark but in real life looks like more the color you see on 10th fret.

I played my 2007 LE Ray last night at a jam and it was just insanely good. There is something about the snarly cutting tone that these bases have in a mix that just puts a smile on everyone's face.

Cheers! I meant in terms of finish in the rosewood.

I'm in ! I received my Stingray a couple days ago and like it alot. It's an '05 with a 1980 pre-EB preamp and the Nordy Pup. Bassman28 sold it to me. It has a nice classic look and sounds very nice.

What's up guys n' gals? After a variety of 4 & 5 string 'Ray's & Sterlings over my bass career, I've decided to come on back..
Well, actually, NBD was yesterday, but I literally got off work, ran to the store, bought the bass(it was pretty much unplayable when they took it off the wall, so I had them do a quick neck adjustment so I could at least play it.), ran home, kissed my wife & son, and headed to the gig I have on Thursday nights. So, here it is...

Pros:
LOVE the way this one sounds and feels! Even though I've had other Stingray 5s, and I still need to set this one up, I like the way the maple neck speaks.

Cons:
HATE gold hardware! Will EB sell hardware? If they do, I'll try to pick up some Stealth hardware. Although that will still leave the pickups with the gold pole pieces, I think I can live with that. If they won't, I gotta find an alternative...

Anyway, that's my new bass. Glad to be back...
