Mustang bass on Fender's website

Does anybody know what is up with the Mustang bass picture for the Mustang bass section under basses on Fender's site?

It looks like it's lake placid blue with a maple fingerboard and a white pearl pickguard, but I can't find it anywhere on either the Fender or Squier Mustang basses.

It's from Fender Japan. California blue. Not available in the US.

That would be one of the new pawn shop basses! You'll find it here: http://www.fender.com/series/pawn-shop/

EDIT: My bad, I was thinking of something else.

It's on Fender's US website.

That is the picture when you go to www.fender.com and then click on basses and look over at the Mustang bass section on their site. Here is proof:

Yes, it is there. The pickup arrangement and maple neck suggest it would be a Squier VM Mustang but they are not offered in that color presently. It could be a Japanese model as suggested above. Or it could be that Fender will be expanding the color options available in the US Mustangs later this year. Maybe they will even be offering a Modern Player Mustang soon? I have no idea really. It is a nice looking Mustang, I can see why it caught your attention. I hope they do plan to make you one soon.

Can't decide between a Fender Mustang and a Squier Mustang...

Post 53. Make it a maple neck, and there ya go. As I said, Fender Japan. California Blue. For realz bro.

I looked into after I saw it on their site, cuz I found it strange as well. Only thing I could think of is they are planning on expanding the colours available. But we shall see.

They also don't have the sunburst/rosewood/tort that comes up in the background of the main mustang page.
