| My 5 string search... is over.
I have played for over 25 years and have played many different kinds of basses from 4s to 7s. Since I am 40-something, 4 strings have always been the most comfortable.
I have owned two 5 strings, a Tobias and a Modulus/Genesis. Neither were right for me. I thought that maybe I was destined to be a 4 string player and I was alright with that. But, I missed the low notes...
Yesterday I played a few different 5 strings. I started with the Jazz because I was used to it (my 4 is a Jazz). I did not care for the spacing. G&L sounded fantastic, but the spacing and the feel were not quite right. Ibanez (love the SR 4's) did not feel right to me.
Then I moved over to Musicman. The Stingray 5 was wonderful. But, the classic Stingray 5 was better. I loved the neck and the spacing. That was not the end though.
The Bongo 5 blew me out of the water. No other bass has ever done that off the wall. I always go home to my Jazz and think that everything else is fine, but not as good as my bass.
I can't stop thinking about that bass. This will be my 5 string. I am putting some cash aside and hope to have one by summer.
