Man, this thing is rad! Did one of you guys return a 6 string?
*DISCLAIMER* This is the first 6 string bass I've ever owned. I played a number of instruments in the past week in anticipation of the bass, I even tuned my baritone guitar to 4ths to prepare myself mentally
...I am a guitar player first and I dabble in the bass mostly because I love the sound, role and technique of the instrument. That said, I've wanted a 6 string bass since sailing the seas of cheese...
First things first- this thing was setup right out of the box. There are some scratches on the fretboard running parallel to the frets, not all that many of them either. This makes me thing that somebody was dressing the frets and got a bit careless. Who knows.
That said, truss rod needs no adjusting, bridge is already adjusted for the radius (which is rather flat) and the thickness of the neck feels extremely familiar for some reason. Which makes no sense to me...but I'll run with it!
The only negatives I can note are that the fret edges seem to have cracked the finish a touch, although there are no fret edges to be found. Also the B-string is a little weaker than the other strings, I don't know whether or not to attribute that to the strings or the pickups.
BONUS- bass was shipped with the hard case for $125 but it ALSO had a gig back in the case as well. Was not expecting that from a b-stock, and it's things like this that make me want to come back to rondo music.
I plan on putting together a video some time just to give another perspective on the instrument.
