My main rig - what's yours
I think I'm at a good place as far as setting up my main rig. I have the Fender American Deluxe Jazz V - SWR 700 WORKINGPRO - Eden D410XLT cab and Zoom B3 effects.
If you don't have anything else to do, share yours (main rig only)
My Hofner club - ampeg ba108.....that's it.
Stingray 5H, Aguilar Tone Hammer, Creek Headphone Amp, 1964 Ears Quads.
My backup is 2x DNA 112's and an Eden 300T or WTX-500.
Mesa Carbine M9 amp, two TKS W2126 cabs, Darkglass B7K preamp.
A bass - most often one of:
Sadowsky UV70 5-string with Pope Flex Core preamp
Fender American Jazz Deluxe FMT V
Fodera Viceroy bolt-on 5
An amp, most often one of:
GK MB Fusion 800
Glockenklang Blue Soul
A cab, most often:
Bergantino CN 212
but occasionally Bergantino AE210 or AE410
Bass depends on the gig but probably the Deusenberg Starplayer or my humble but lovable MIJ P Bass.
My bigger gig amp is a Mesa M-Pulse through a Berg HS410 but I usually get by with a MBF 500 --> HS 210
99% of the time, it's the Sadowsky Vintage 4 string
I have a recording session coming up that I'll use my 75 fretless Precision.
If I'm gigging in France, I use my 80's Squier Jazz MIJ out of convenience.
Strangely enough, my main amp these days for my regular Monday night pub gig is a Schertler Jam 150 Pro. 150 watts into an 8 inch speaker. It sounds so warm. I run vocals through it as well.
I have Roland CB100 that is a great amp. Roland is well known for making great keyboards, pedals, guitar amps. I ever ever considered Roland for bass amps. Mne was bought as a rehearsal amp and it's seen more gigs than my Markbass set up.
The big amp is a rare Markbass head. Rare in North America. It was out here long before Markbassa came to the states. I run it into an SWR Bassic 2-Way. Haven't used this set up in over two years.
Main basses are an 05 Upton Hawkes upright, 09 MIA Precision, 76 Precision with PJ pickups, and 95 P Lyte with EMG's. They go into a series of pedals, then into an A-Designs REDDI tube DI, and then into whatever Ampeg amp and cab I feel like bringing, usually a new V4B or Heritage SVT-CL, into a Heritage 810e or two SVT 210av's.
Status / Warmoth Jazz with EMG X s, Boss GT10B , Mesa M-Pulse 600, Barefaced Big Twin 2.
2010 Rickenbacker 4003
Ernie Ball volume pedal
Boss CE2 chorus
DOD 575A flanger
Boss DD3 delay
SWR Bass 350
SWR 4X10 cabinet and/or Peavey 2X10 cabinet
Moog Taurus III bass pedals into PA
Fender active Jazz into MXR DI + into Orange Terror 1000 -into two Orange sp 2x12's
When there is a 8x10 backline I bring my Ampeg Svt 4pro and DI from that.
I just played a gig, last night, with my main rig:
Marcus Miller 4-string Fender Jazz -> Mark Bass Little Mark III -> Epifani UL410
It sounded great.
This is usually what I use:
2011 MIA Fender Jazz Deluxe, the original active electronics have been replaced with passive Lindy Fralin pickups, new pots and capacitors
1982 MIA Fender Precision
U.S. Built Ampeg SVT 6 Pro
Two U.S. built Ampeg SVT 410HE cabs
I own other gear but this is what I use on almost every gig
Ampeg SVT Classic Master @ 3:00 , Gain between 9:00 to 11:00 depending on venue. Classic 8 10 e cab. Fender P Bass with Chrome flats , Tone @ 4. Vol between 7 and 8. (strat. knobs with numbers on 'em) If the venue has wonky electrics , I'll use a Peavey Mark 6 s.s. head. If there's a lot of steps involved , they get the Peavey head and a Peavey 2 15 cab.(Haven't had to do this in quite a while) XLR out of Ampeg head or DI out of Peavey head from Pre out for FOH gigs.
Ernie ball ray 5 into mesa m9 carbine into a powerhouse 4x12.
Also use a sansamp direct into a qsck10 sometimes.
It depends on the gig really.
For classic rock cover band gigs...
Currently a Lakland 55-02, GB Shuttlemax 9.2, Berg AE410. Sprinkle in a little flanger, envelop filter, and a ParaEQ and I'm ready for anything.
Blues gigs get a different treatment...
G&L SB1, GB Streamliner, and a Berg AE410 (or 210 depending on venue size). Pedal board is usually hooked up, but seldom used for anything but the tuner.
These days, it's usually a Steamliner 900 into a PH215 - basses are usually a Sterling 5 HS, paired up with either an '08 MIA Hot Rod Jazz, '08 Am St Jazz, or '06 Gibson T-bird... although I sometimes gig a Music Man SUB5 or Peavey Foundation 5, and pair one of those up with either an '09 Highway One P Bass, Music man SUB Sterling or SUB...
It depends on the situation and my mood at the time, actually...
08 50'a RI Precision, or FrankenJazz depending what tone I am feeling that night
Into our PA w. 18" sub or FOH.
I have other stuff ampeg/GK stuff if I need it but above is what i am mainly playing out of.
2012 Gibson Explorer for the tuned down stuff
2012 MIA P bass for standard tune and half step down stuff
TC Electronics Polytune
Ampeg SVT Heritage CL
Ampeg SVT Heritage 810
G&L Tribute L2500 or MIM Fender Jazz V
Genz Benz GBE 600, VT Bass
Small, light, and loud!
