My new Wal! 2 Attachment(s) here it is, 1984 MkI |
Man is that beautiful congrats |
beauty! |
What does it sound like? |
It's very aggressive and organic sounding. My previous main bass has a carbon fiber neck so this thing just sounds so woody and natural to me. It's very abundant in the midrange area which can make it extremely growly sounding, especially with the pick attack enabled. It;s very versatile but no matter how I set the knobs up it always retains that "Wal" sound. (Which I love) |
Congratulations. Now, just tell us you don't have another, or more of those beauties. |
Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang. Nice bass! |
To quote the genius mind of Napoleon Dynamite: "DAAAANNG!" EDIT--- I see Hamlet7768 beat me to the "DANG" punch by one minute. Once again, this proves that great minds think alike, and mine does too. |
@rust preacher. No this is my only wal. My other baby is a 100th anniversary stingray. The NAMM bass with the status graphite neck. I pretty much sold all my basses over the years to own these 2 basses but it was worth it. Between the two I can pretty much obtain any sound I'm looking for. |
Man that is pretty I would be scared to play it |
Hahaha I was scared to touch it when it first came in the mail. I waited and waited and when it finally got here I was almost intimidated by it lol. |
Sweet bass Mike!...congrats! |
Thank you very much! :) |
Very cool! |
always loved the mach 1's the best. is that shedua over mahogony? |
Yes, it certainly is! |
To be honest I was searching for an MKII but when i saw an original 1984 for sale and I had the cash I just couldn't pass it up. |
I originally wanted a wenge finish but I have fallen in love with the shedua finish. It's absolutely stunning. |
Congratulations! |

Finally got the MKII and sold the MKI 2 years later and i totally regret it. So dont sell it. They sound exactly the same. The only difference was the extra frets (which 99% of the time dont get used) and horn length. Even though there was 20 something years between build dates on those 2 Wals...the neck played and felt the same. I have a line on a MKI (fretless) that was born a fretted....think im going to "pull the trigger" and have talked to FBass' service guy about putting in some frets for me. Quote was cheap too (under $400). I have posted this pic before.... ![]() |
