Nathan East's New Bass

Does anyone know anything about a new bass that Nathan is playing? On the Fourplay site there is a picture of him playing it. He mentioned a new bass at the beginning of the Fourplay Concert broadcast on Sirrius, Memorial day Weekend.

It is not the white 6 string that Yamaha built just for him.

Is it this one? This is a picture of him with the luthier that built it in Japan. His brother James sent me the picture.

I wonder, with no disrespect, what it was that made him order that bass from that specific luthier? I mean, no doubt it's a great bass, but I bet every bass Nathan owns is great. He can order the best from anywhere. And no doubt it has some very fine appointments, the best pickups and top wood etc, but then so do countless other boutique basses. The overall styling is not unique. So, wondering in all seriousness, what was special about that bass from that luthier?

Exar's business is on hold for now. I will still help previous customers.

A gift, perhaps?

That's a Nauser. They are great basses and have been used by some of the best in the biz.

Nathan East really needs to grow his moustache back.

That's really nice bass.

I thought Nauser basses were made in Czechoslovakia.

What's special about any bass...

Maybe this is "the best from anywhere" as far as he is concerned for the direction he wanted to go with the new instrument.

I wouldn't assume that this signals an end to his Yamaha endorsement/relationship. Guys like Nathan (Marcus, et al), have dozens -- even hundreds of basses from many different luthiers/manufacturers.

Looking at the Bossa site, it's definitely a Bossa "BUS-6". There is some resemblance to a Neuser "Cloudburst", but its not a Neuser, which is obviously in the wrong country anyway.

Certainly true, but I don't think anyone here suggested there was any change to his Yamaha deal.

It is not the white 6 string that Yamaha built just for him.
I know about the bass you are referring to. It's a Limited Edition BB NE 2. It is gray as opposed to white and has silver hardware. It has the same pre amp as the BB NE 2, just a different color. I saw Fourplay a few months ago and after the show I asked him about it, and that's what he told me. I then contacted Yamaha, and they knew nothing about it. I have to assume that it is being made in their custom shop but not available from retailers.

Killer Bossa Bass right there. I recently picked up a Bossa OB-6 and I love it. Really comfortable and has a very clear tone. Absolutely beautiful basses too. Just google image Bossa Bass and you'll see the craftsmanship is gorgeous.

Check out this Japanese website that has them: http://www.mikigakki.com/special/spe...hp?Rec_Id=1074
