NBD: 1964ish Teisco
Got a good deal on this from a yard sale. The body is mostly in good condition, with a few nicks here and there. A fairly obvious notch out of the corner of the headstock, but everything else looks pretty good. Two-tone sunburst maroonish and black. Aluminum pickguard. Has a single gold foil pickup with the adjustable poles. At first I thought the E string pole might have a problem, but I think the strings are old and that one was really dead. I replaced it with a nylon tape wound I had on hand, and it sounds great. Nice vintage kinda uprightish motownish sound. I really like it. I think I will replace the rest of the strings as well. Neck is straight, frets not marked at all. Has a bridge cover that is in minty shape and looks good. Both tone and volume pot original, in good condition, and they both work well. Seller (2nd owner) said it had sat in a closet in its case for years. It came with the original case which looks like it just came off the shelf. So far fun to play around with. I was at first thinking of flipping it because I got such a good deal on it, I could make a few bucks and still give somebody else a good deal, but I think I will keep this one :-) I will post pics when I take some. I was only able to find one other bass that is this same model doing some extensive searching, but it was a different color. Sure are a lot of different models out there!
