NBD - Acoustic Short Scale

I've wanted an acoustic for a while and I finally decided to invest in this beautiful 30" sunburst with piezo and onboard eQ.

The neck is right where it needs to be - it has a truss rod but it is not adjustable. (or maybe it doesn't? never heard of a non adjustable truss)

This is the glamour shot:

Rosewood fretboard was a little "dry" looking when I got it. A luthier/friend advised Danish Oil. Worked great!

It comes with the bridge at full height (so you can do your own setup). I decided to live with it as it came for a few months before deciding if I want to file it down. As it sits we have about 2.5/16th on the E and a solid 1/8th on the D and G:

And finally the headstock shot:

I really like having an acoustic - and the short scale is easy and fun to play.

It also sounds pretty good through the amp - the eQ is quite effective and you can get some nice tones.

Bought it from amazon. $85 delivered.

All in all...it is a nice piece of junk to have laying around!

Welcome to the world of acoustic bass guitars!

We are a rare breed. Have you done any chords or strumming on it yet?

Hey, thanks!

Strumming the heck out of it - nothing fancy with the chords - just power chord stuff

If anyone is interested I could make a sound clip

That headstock shape looks like the offspring of an Ibanez head stock and a Danelectro headstock.

I had that bass. The fret ends were like razor blades, every note buzzed, and the intonation was off after the fifth fret. But the main reason I got rid of it was because I couldn't fit tapewounds through the bridge.

Yeah, I knew this was a crapshoot purchase - no razor frets and no buzzing (although the action is jacked)

Intonation isn't great on the E and A - passable on the D and G

The thing I love about it being a junker is that I play as crazy and reckless as I want to - smacking the body, etc...

(I never realized how tough an acoustic really is - they look so fragile!)

I got pretty barbaric with mine. In the end I ended up breaking it on a night of drunken frivolity. Not the worst 80 bucks I ever spent, but close.

In order to do indoor or remote practice, I bought a FENDER ABG-1.
Firs tthing I did was remove the bronze strings as it sounded too much like a de-tuned guitar; too twangy. La Bella short cales got it sounding like a bass..BTW I love round wounds on my other solid bodies...

Anyhow.. It is my least fave bass..stays in its gig bag; battery removed.

Fishman transducer system is fine.

I would LOVE to play it more, but it is nearly mute against any other instrument when un amplified. It won't hold tuning; octaves are off..It would cost more than original purchase price to fix its issues..so...

Later, indoor [ silent] practice was accomplished when I got my Line6 pod and headphones. Remote practice can be accomplished withany bass; using my Korg PXB 4; battery operated.
