Just finished the rebuild of a Jazz Bass last night - once again, almost all of the parts from right here in the TB classies...
I started with another old parts bass with a fretless neck. It had some handwound pickups that sounded fantastic, but there were two issues; first, the body was some unknown brand and the neck pocket was | | too big. It also had that fretless neck and I *really* can't play fretless...
So, I swapped the old fretless neck for an MIM '75 reissue neck. Unfortunately, the holes on the '75 neck were not exactly right, so I had to do some work on it. Filled the holes with doweling and glue, sanded it down, and started over again.
Then, I picked up an MIJ Geddy body two weeks ago. gorgeous black, with a standard white guard. I installed the pickups, replaced the white guard with a vintage tort one, and installed a standard bridge - after going back and forth between it and a black Schaller roller bridge.
Bolted it all up, strung it with some Chromes that I had laying around, and voila!!!
Thanks again, TB community!!!
