NBD: beware the usual P bass thread

OK, I got this MIJ Squier P a few months ago in a trade, but now she's back from some minor surgery and plays like any Fender.

Got the neck refinished (it was bad for a japanese Squier), Fender pup, CTS pots, new jack, shiny new chrome covers and a new bone nut.

I don't know... it looks greener in person and it is a bit more blue under the pickguard, so I'd say it is some sort of daphne/sonic blue that aged to this color (bass is almost 20 yo)

Love the color and also the dark rosewood! Did you lemon oil the fretboard to make it darker?

That's a really sharp-looking bass. I'm not usually a fan of pickup covers, but it just looks *right* on this instrument, doesn't it?

Actually my luthier thinks that this bass got a new fretboard years ago, because it is darker than rosewood and the grain looks different, pretty much like a local wood from down here, imbuia.

Yes, I think the covers look great on this bass!

Hmm, then I guess it is sherwood green then! It really looks like your bass, my pictures are a little bit bluer than it should.

Your P looks great! I really like MOP pickguards!

According to the Fender site, this one (serial number "O013981") was made between 1993 and 1994.

Unless my monitor is WAY off, neither of those basses are Sherwood Green. Nice colors, to be sure, but Sherwood Green is a deep, almost candy apple green.

Edit: Here's an old color chart. Sherwood Green is top right.

Based on this color chart it looks more like foam green (second in the right, top to bottom).

Don't know how accurate were the Squier colors compared to Fender back in the 90's in Japan.
