I wonder if you could 'Option 50' a Bunny with the Bromberg singles and pre? That would be interesting

I'm pretty sure they like to keep that Bromberg circuitry on the B24/5... But it can't hurt to try!

If you go to build a bass, the radiused 'buckers and singles are available options. Didn't see any preamp options tho.

I believe it's available even when you order on the website. when you get to the pickup options screen, I think I remember seeing the Bromberg pickup/electronics available on the 4 and 5 strings.

This thread makes me want to pull my BB75 out of the closet and play it. I was my main bass for about 15 years, the only bass I gigged or recorded with! Awesome bass for sure! I might have to bring it for the Mardi Gras festivities Saturday.
I switched to 4 string about 2 years ago, I love them too!

I still try to play my BB76 from time to time, I'm working on some little mods to help me ergonomically with it (to get the neck higher up so I can keep my wrist straight).

It has the most amazing sound, with a hard pop on the note that even the 4 string doesn't get. Not as much midbass; still sounds like a Bunny but it gives that hard attack with a very light touch.

The unlined board gives the Steve Bailey type experience also....

Dude, what are you waiting for?

My Bunny still remains the best bass I've ever owned. Nothing comes close. I can't ever see going back to a 4, although I am thinking about a fretless 5. Not sure if I'll stick with a BB, but Carvin is at the top of the list.

Glad to see this thread resurrected! Even for a Carvin, the Bunnys are underrated.

Bunny has an extra strap hook on the body of his bass. I did the same thing. It tilts the bass slightly, and for some reason really makes it easier for me to play, and keep my wrist straight.

That's really nice - Carvin sure makes some nice basses. Congrats.

You're welcome So, is there any noise with the single coil + MM setup? I've already established the tone is right for me, but it was hard to discern the noise level amongst all the clamor of NAMM.

I am considering ordering a carvin four string bass this year, either the Icon or LB series. Any advise from you carvin owners? What options should I be considering? What pickups do you like? I had one of their amps a long, long time ago but I haven't tried their basses. I am very impressed with the general specs and what you can get for your money.

I've played around with that using Velcro so I didn't have to drill holes, but I actually need mine to rotate the other way.

I think I'm just going to put another extension on the upper horn, to make it even more vertical and moved further down to the right, but still allow it to rotate more downward in the usual way.

For playing seated, I've added a velcro pad to the lower horn which forces the neck up and the whole bass to the right. That's helped a fair bit. I even use it on my 4 string Bunny for better comfort when seated.

I have to go to all these lengths tho because of my injuries, a normal player would probably be able to deal as-is.

The only thing I wish I'd done is order the coil-splitting switch for the bridge PU. Sometimes it'd be nice to have a single-coil sound there....

And as for features, I kind of wish Carvin had the asymmetrical neck profile for the 6 string. I've played asymmetrical necks in the past and it really gives a lot more comfort on wide necks.

No noise at all on my bass. Dead quiet. But I don't use the switch very often at all, and probably wouldn't do it again. There's something about both pu's leveled out that I really like.

I have the J99A single coil + MM on my 4 string and also report it's totally dead quiet with both pickups.

The 6 tho has the H50S stacked HB at the neck position and I actually much prefer the sound of it. With it soloed, it is indistinguishable from a Precision bass but with a better attack and more sustain. I could use the Bunny 6 in a blues/C&W/gospel etc gig with that pickup only and nobody would be the wiser that it's not a Fender P.

Together with the bridge PU, tho, it doesn't have the same scoop as a J99 at the neck like my 4 string so...

Very cool, thanks gents! The GAS pains are building! Just gotta get the funds together... Pretty sure I'm going with the translucent purple over ash for the body.

What strings are you using? That's good info, and puts the Bunny in play for my (eventual) fretless. A BB76F would be a good choice, as I'm already in love with the neck. I hadn't considered the H50S...

Looking at the options, it seems like the H50A is standard now, and I don't see the H50S.

I'm planning on copping a P tone with the awesome sweepable mid anyways. Just find the right frequency range to boost, and BAM! Chunky, woody goodness. Worked on the basses I played at NAMM.
