I almost ordered the Black/Maple, but I couldn't pass up the transparent wine red with rosewood/big block inlays...

Very nice. I have one just like Starmanns, above. I also have the J version. Both are wonerful instruments.

Actually that is the J version with chrome knob replacements like the P version.

The "new guy" needs to change out those plastic knobs. Add a thumbrest and flats, go "old school".:hyper:

I'm with you on changing out the plastic knobs... maybe on the thumb rest, but you lost me on the flats... I much prefer rounds...

Different strokes. I think the chrome knobs on a jazz make it look like a Squier. Black bakelite knobs on a jazz just look right.

I bought an american p deluxe a few months back(natural/maple)pretty well made,fast neck,great tone ,panning and switching is good,the onle issue is the lack of cavity insulation,which makes for some NOISY n3(supposedly quiet) bridge pups,there are a few remedies around,but ya pay 1500 to 2000 for a bass thats the last thing I want to do,I am trying to get fender to pay to fix it,but...their Fender,so...awsome basses otherwise

I have the exact same bass and love it.
