NBD Fender American Special Jazz
Bought this beautiful jazz from the local music shop today. (Sydney)
Got a really good deal on this mint used model the shop owner said that a man had bought it and hated it so he traded it in for a classical guitar. His loss = my gain!
It's perfect i can't find any flaw and feels that extra bit nicer than my vintage Mij Precision but it isn't going anywhere soon just might not see as much use!
Good tone can't wait to use it with a bigger amp than my practise setup.
Really happy with my purchase and now i have to decide what pick guard she needs! (white doesn't do it for me)
"The Jaco Look"
I kinda like it without a pickguard. It doesn’t scream “Jaco wanna-be” to me at all.
I'd go for a clear PG on that looker!
No PG it looks beautiful.
I'm starting to line up to buy a American Special in White. My birthday gift to myself ( my b-day is in the summer)
I have been Jones-ing for one of these for awhile now.
I hate when people post things that greatly affect my GAS!
Yeah... looks nice without the PG! Congrats
I almost pulled the trigger on a Jaco but it seems silly after looking at one of these I could buy a used one have the frets pulled and the board epoxied and still be ahead.
Sunburst and tort always works but no scrath plate works well too!
Beautiful bass. Congrats.
Another vote for no pick guard. Congrats!
If a jazz doesn't have any ugly routing necessitating a pickguard, they always look better without one.
That is a beautiful finish on that, and the only pickguard I would be able to suggest if you really think you need one on it is a transparent one. That looks too beautiful to cover up really.
Well... the naked-neck NBD gods struck twice! ... this time here in PA .... Just miles from Jaco's old turf.
Not having the hands or the money of a plumber, I opted for this medium scale SX jewel from Rondo.
Had planned on giving it "a Jaco"... Relicing it behind my Gran Torino all the way to Norristown and back. Alas.. she's just too gorgeous.
Not as tasty as the OP, but seriously . . . How do they do it? ?
$99 for good grain, flats... and not any fret buzz!
p.s. i'll have all the unused sandpaper, scrubbies, clorox, soy sauce and car compound.. even the grinder on sale in the "lutherie" section.
.. sorry - the cool hat - FT only!
Nice buy there's nothing wrong with a sx usually just need a setup and there ready to rock! I almost walked out of the shop with tokai jazz but I don't want to own another black bass (sweaty hands).
Congrats, that is a great looking bass!
Looks fine without the pickguard and would look good with tort if you decide to put one on.
I, too, like the fact that you could use it "naked". You don't see that look very often. But if I had to choose a pickguard to go with a sunburst body, my tastes run towards black (always classy!), but that's just my personal tastes. Everyone's here will vary.
