NBD Fender Bastard Bass

I got this from the local classifieds. It's an American Standard Precision Bass body with an American Special Jazz neck. It also came with the crappiest case (condition) you have ever seen. Got a good deal on it and I can't wait to really blast the volume tomorrow and see what she can do. Is it pretty common to put a Jazz neck on a P body and vise versa? I love the Jazz neck so for me it's a no brainer that I would like it.

Very Nice!! I'm surprised they use those tuners on a MIA Special.

Because they are nice or because they are crappy?

Okay...I just got my American Standard Jazz Bass out of it's case to look at the tuners. The Standard ones look more solid for sure. I am guessing the "surprise" is that the ones on the Special are crappy. lol

Not crappy, just a little heavier and a dated, yet solid, design.

Nice bass!

Okay. I took the strings off the new bass and cleaned it up really well. I was like a soda pop blew up next to it at some point. Here are some pics of it next to the American Standard.

That is a sweet bass.

I wish Fender offered P's with Jazz necks.

Congrats.

Still loving the Bass. Anyone have any recommendations for a pickup upgrade? I would like a pickup that would sound great slapping and is very sensitive.

Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder is a great all-around pickup.

Holy crap. That's practically my dream P bass. Maple J neck and butterscotch body have always been on my want list.

Nice bass, but it isn't a "bastard." We call them "hybrids" when they have a Jazz neck on a P (or vice versa.) It sounds a lot nicer.

Anyway, congrats and enjoy!

I'd have snagged that bass too. How much did you get it for?

I got it for $450. I did just stick it on EBay to see if I could flip it quickly, but I really don't plan on it selling so I am ready to play it.

I think I accidentally deleted someone asking if this is the bass they saw on eBay and yes it is. I pressed the edit button instead of the quote one and since this is on my phone I hit delete or something
