NBD: Fender Classic Series '70s Jazz Bass

A week late, but here it is.

I'd been eyeing this for months at a local store. Girlfriend convinced me to finally pull the trigger last weekend when I stopped in to play it again. They were selling it for less than any of the big chains even during 15% off sales. Came with a gig bag, and the guy threw in a set of strings for free as well. Shopping local pays off from time to time.

I know the rules. Pics are attached.

I've finally mastered the bass, does anyone know what those other 3 strings are for?

I have one of those and just love it. Might be my 1st or 2nd favorite. Good score on both bass and GF!!

It's my main squeeze, after 20 years on a Ric 4001. I mainly fell in love with it for the neck thickness...which is much fatter than most Jazz necks. Interestingly, I was playing mine less, since I got a Yamaha BB424x - which has a satin-finish neck (compared to the poly-finished Jazz). Just yesterday, I sanded the Jazz neck a bit, and I'm sure it will get much more aging time.

Congrats on a fine Fender Jazz!!

Congrats man, I just got mine yesterday from a TB trade and my girlfriend had to drag me out of the pad to get dinner...the necks on these are absolutely stunning! and feel great! The tone is amazing with the PUP placement and I have some aftermarket Aguilars on.

I will be playing this bass mainly for a long time to come, minus when I am done saving for a Fender Jag.
