NBD! Fender Content

Ok thanks to all the TB'rs for the advice on my new choice. Just picked up my new blonde playmate and it's already strung with flats so I get to test them out as well tonight.

Splendid. +1 on the covers, if you can stand it.

I just saw a video of The Castaways playing "Liar, Liar" made in 1965. The bass player was playing what looked like a 1954 silver sparkle P bass. Has anyone ever seen one before? I've never seen one with this finish.

Classic 50's? Great choice! I just took one off ShowLow's hands and am loving it! Hope you're enjoying yours as much as I am mine!

Those are terrific basses especially for the money. Nothing about them not to like! The covers do look cool. IMO they get in the way on a P-Bass if you use a lot of right hand technique(palm muting, slap, playing over the pickup).

Yeah, the covers look great, but I don't like them from a playing/comfort standpoint. One thing you can do to "put the icing on the cake" without using covers is put on a tug bar. Cheap, and IMO, they finish the look.

Yeah, depending on your style the covers can get in the way, but luckily for me I naturally play with my fingers above the pickup cover anyway, so it worked out for me. As soon as I walked in the door with my classic 50's P I had my drill out and installed the covers and tug bar! No regrets!

I could never install covers on a Fender that wasn't drilled for them. And put me down for "in the way" as well. Love the bass, though. Almost got one that color a few years ago but opted for black instead.

The pickguard has all the holes in it already just begging for it to be done! Unless you're a total moron, you cant screw it up. Literally took 5 minutes to drill the holes.
