IMO they get in the way on a P-Bass if you use a lot of right hand technique(palm muting, slap, playing over the pickup). |

One thing you can do to "put the icing on the cake" without using covers is put on a tug bar. Cheap, and IMO, they finish the look.

|  | Registered User | | | | | Yeah, depending on your style the covers can get in the way, but luckily for me I naturally play with my fingers above the pickup cover anyway, so it worked out for me. As soon as I walked in the door with my classic 50's P I had my drill out and installed the covers and tug bar! No regrets! |
