It is a Brand new Fender Closet Classic Pro (Prototype) modeled after the 2010 Closet Classic Pro model. It sounds and plays better than I was hoping it would. I was really nervous the first time I plugged it in to play it because my ears are fickle...but it has just the tone I was hoping for. Im guessing she weighs 8lbs at most and the balance is absolutely the best of any bass I have had. She balanced on my pointer finger stuck right under the neck at the neck pocket. The pickups put the top end right where I like it....not too much sizzle but the high end is right in that sweet spot to layer clarity over plush growly (It can really growl and snarl when you dig in) hi and low mids and a tight, fat bottom end. Harmonics just jump of the fretboard and last for miles. The bass sounds great over the entire range of the tone knob. Turn the jazz pup off and it sounds just like a beautiful Punchy P-Bass. Solo the Jazz Pup and it is straight Jaco bark....and there are so many tones in between. She set up really nice with super low action and is really easy to play. The back of the neck is practically unfinished...maybe a little satin? I gig about 5 nights a week and will try to shoot some video. I won't know how I really like this bass until I hear how it sits in the mix with the band. I usually need a good 10 gigs in different setttings to really know how i feel about a bass...so we will see
P-Bass Body-3 Tone Burst
Abby Wound P-Bass pickup + J-Bass Pickup in 70's position
Jazz Bass Quarter Sawn Neck - Jazz Width Nut- Rosewood Board - Abalone Blocks
D shaped neck
Paddle Tuners
BadAss Bridge
Wired VVT
'Closet Classic' finish-You can't tell from these crappy iphone pics, but there is beautiful 'checking' in the body paint

i don't what people say about Fender, their CS basses are absolutely worth the cash. especially ignorant, are those that LOVE to compare the boutique brands against the assembly-line Fenders. i spent a whole day in the high-end stores and sampled several popular lines. on my last stop was a small store that featured Fender CS. they were every bit as nice in every respect to the so-called Fender-Killers!
i am inlove with the finish on year bass!!!
CONGRATULATIONS, MAN!

I got her this afternoon, played her for about an hour....deliberated as to whether to have her shielded or just drop a Bridge J Bass split coil pup into her...and then drove her down to the shop to have her sheilded. I'll try sheilding first as it has really done the trick in my 73' Jazz...and if it isn't effective enough....I'll drop a split coil in.. |

CONGRATULATIONS, MAN! | Thank You! I'll try to get some close ups of the checking in the paint. It is gorgeous! I wanted that 60's style 3 Tone Burst that goes Black, Dark Red, Light Yellow and it came out just as i had hoped it would! |

Guilty as charged...I had to get under the hood and check her out....forgot to put all the screws in and the knobs before taking pics...I guess that makes me a questionable bass 'makeup artist' when it comes to prepping a bass for a shoot lol!

Because the 4 String model exists, it might not be that big a leap to fit the neck pocket for a 5 string neck and rout the pickups for a 5'er. Slap a 5 string bridge on and you are ready to roll. |
