On a related note ... do you have to pay extra to get knobs included on Fender CS basses these days? All you need is the tugbar (A.K.A. thumb rest) to complete an already handsome package.
Ha ha! I have the knobs of course and I also have the tugbar. I removed it because I have to slappa da bass at most of my Gigi's and it is in the way. Same with my 73' Jazz.

That's a cool bass, pretty much what I would order as well. Enjoy!

The retro Fender Gods forgive you for removing the tugbar ... Leo Fender was a function over form guy on the highest order.

Oh god...so jealous. This is my favorite Fender ever. I totally ripped it off to build a low-budget version with SX parts, but I'll have the real deal someday.

That is truly bogus, mojo. I would be heartbroken if I ever lost my version of your bass -

1966 Jazz neck on a 1970 P body, with old dimarzios and plenty of pickguard screws.

Thanks All.
I'll put another together someday.
Good news is I finally found another 1971-P-Bass that is just wonderful.

It sounds right, it gets the job done, and it looks right from five feet away, but in that price point you really do get what you pay for.

Well...looks like we were both thinking basically the exact same thing lol! I do know where u are coming from. I had a 70's MIM Fender Jazz with tone that just killed... But it literally refused to set up the way I wanted it to. The new MIA Fenders and the Custom Shop Fenders are made from better wood, with more attention to detail. This is my first PJ. I hope I dig it as much as I think I will. I
make a living playing old school funk mostly, and I'm really looking for a P-Bass + a J-Bass in one Bass. That would give me every sound I really need.
