NBD: Fender FSR Jazz Bass

Picked up this Fender FSR Jazz last week. I had gotten another bass that just wasn't doing it for me so I returned it and got this. It plays and sounds great. Ash body, rosewood fretboard, natural finish with a tort pickguard. The wood has some of the best grain I've seen in a bass. I'm very happy with my choice. :)

Congratulations! I like mine. I put Dimarzio model Js in to help it have some P bass potential.:D

These are MIM? It is my favorite combo, natural with RW board. Very nice looking bass.

Thanks. I don't know why more people don't have these basses. I think because these are affiliated with GC or MF scares people away? It's a Fender. It's not like GC is making them in their back room.

... actually, there are a good number of folks that have or have had one of these, they were selling like crazy the first few years ... they have been out now for about ten years, quite possibly the longest running FSR (FSE actually) in Fender history ... the P's are all but gone, the J is still available (new)... you can usually find at least one or two at any given time listed on Ebay ..

... they can be good basses, but then like all Fender offerings there are some that are less stellar than the others .. one of the issues that I ran into after having a few, is that the weight can vary greatly... I have seen them low 8# (that was my first one, a P) all the way up to a Jazz over 10+# ...

... the first couple of years they came out with all white pickguards, and you can still find them for sale that way on Ebay ... nice looking combination, especially with the tort ....

The ash FSRs rarely show up in the Classifieds here. My interpretation is that owners don't sell them. I've seen one J for sale in the last few months. Found mine at GC, incredibly light and resonant, could not resist at Black Friday pricing. I wouldn't mind a P twin. :D

The wood grain on the OP's bass is unusually fine. Mine is wilder...like 'em both.

After seeing the grain on your bass I too like yours. It almost makes mine look too perfect. :D

Thanks brother pica. Go play that bass! Quietly, it's early...

I have exactly the same bass, it's my one and only, and yes it sounds very good. Love it.

The FSR basses have to be the best deal available from Fender. Congrats!
