There is nothing mandatory about flats on a P, contrary to TB.

True. You also don't HAVE to have apple pie with wipped cream, but it definitely tastes better.

But do they oh, so feel, and sound, so good, on one!
I prefer the actual Fender 9050CL 45-60-80-105 set: growly or mellow, consistent, lasts forever, economical.

Sweet bass.
A tort guard would not look right on that bass but a black pearloid would.

Nice!

I love rounds on my p basses! Flats on a P are only great for Motown, blues..... And Iron Maiden!

In any case, I have old flats on my '74 P currently and they do sound great. I would have rounds on it but I am trying to avoid a $400 refret.

Hey, that isn't by chance the Diamond Anniversary Edition is it? ... if so, did you get the special edition gig bag with it?

I have an '08 Blizzard Pearl Jazz. I've tried the stock parchment guard, a tort guard, and now the black one. I like the black best on it.

It's the Mexican version. sooo no diamond and no gig bag

I almost thought that someone was trying to fake it until i read the different specs for the American and Mexican versions of the 60th anniversary

... you are correct in that there was an American Series Diamond Anniversary bass, it was 3TSB/RW board, US Vint RI pups, jeweled headstock inlay, stamped commemorative neckplate, and the fancy silver case with the red plush interior ... both a P and a J were offered this way ..

... and EVERY Fender that came out in '06 wore the dime size emblem on the back of the headstock commemorating the 60th Anniversary year ..

... BUT, there was also a MIM Diamond Edition Precision, it was Blizzard Pearl/RW board, with American Series P-bass pup, tinted neck and headstock, and the 60th Anniversary neckplate ... the gig bag that came with this was the regular Deluxe Fender bag, but it had a round Fender 60th emblem where the regular Fender emblem usually is, and the zipper pulls were in a diamond shape ..

... in fact there was a guy on Ebay a while back that stuck the diamond neckplate on a regular Blizzard Pearl '06 MIM P Standard and was trying to pass it off as such ... I called him on it, and he quit responding to me ...

.. in any case, its a beauty .. congrats ... and I may be alone, but like a nice dark brown tort on this color

Wash my TB mouth out with soap, but I completely agree.

Black pearloid will kill and make that bass look more like $$$. Any more to me a plain black or white pickguard just gives a bass that "Fender clone" look.

Nice. I'd go BWB if I was changing the pickguard. But that's just me.
