I can almost feel how good that thing plays! Happy for ya. Now play the heck out of that beast.

There is quite some fretbuzz too from the 15th fret and up and the neckpocket is not a perfect fit.
The body is very lightweight, causing some neckdive.
The pots are cracking a bit.

So, the bass has been used is showing it's age and is far from a perfect built.
However...the sound and playabilty (usually I don't get anywhere near the 15th fret) are fantastic!

And for others maybe not a big deal, but I just love to own a piece of history.
Take it to a luthier and have the problems assessed and fixed if necessary. It MAY cost you a few hundred euros but you won't regret it. I bought a '66 P in the early 90's (1612XX serial also!) and had it refretted along with some work to the fingerboard to have the "flip" removed that is common for basses from that era. 20 years later it still plays and sounds terrific.
The bass looks killer. Go the extra step and make it a great player.

Well, I took the Jazz to a renowed Luthier and had it re-fretted and replaced the nut with a new one.

So.. I spent a lot of money and killed the re-sell value but it plays like a dream now, and that in the end my friends is what it's all about, at least for me.

Thanks for your input!

Beautiful bass and I really like your attitude of keeping it as a player.

I'm not sure if I like it or not. I'll pm you my address info for further review and feedback. of course playing in a home setting and a gig setting are two different things, you understand so I'll need to assess both situations before giving you my final verdict.

Nice! I have a dots/binding 66 that JohnK_10 restored for me and it's the best Jazz bass I've ever played.
