NBD: Fender MIJ '62 RI Precision

I have been waiting for this one for awhile now. It's not 100% a '62 RI, but it's pretty darn close.

Body: 2007 Fender MIA HWY1, nitro finish
Neck: 2004 Fender MIJ '62 RI, poly finish
Pickup: Lindy Fralin Vintage +10% Overwound
Hardware: Fender MIA '62 RI Bridge, '62 RI pickguard, chrome covers, etc.
Strings: DR Marcus Miller Fat Beams

I got the body with a jazz neck from a trade Saturday, but decided to make the bass something completely different. First impressions, it really feels like a vintage bass. The neck and the body finish is just great. The Lindy Fralins are the perfect compliment, I am sold on them. The 10% overwind helps too, I notice a lot more clarity than a true vintage voiced pickup. The tone control had two capacitors wired in it, I think it's a greasebucket tone circuit but I am not sure. It sounds good whatever it is. I am not completely sold on the tort pickguard on this one, although a fan I am almost think a true nitro tort or possibly black. I need to take it into a tech I think, the neck is straight as far as I can tell and the truss rods turns, but I am not getting any noticeable bow when I turn the truss rod. As long as it is straight Im ok with it for now.

Bottom line, this one is a keeper.

Pretty shiny for a HWY 1. Did you buff it out?

Nope. It was like then when I got it. Although I did do a light polishing but nothing to make it shiny.

I have seen HWY1 basses that are more of a matte finish than others, but this one is glossy-er. Compared to the neck, it's not as glossy.
