The 3Leaf mentioned is a good choice - I'm a 3Leaf fan also. Depending on what you've got set up as a stereo there are other options. Last year I went with the Mackie 402-VLZ3 mixer between my stereo and my headphones. I can plug in w/o an amp and use my pedals and play into headphones to keep the neighbors happy or run my stereo into it and play along. Whatever you do have a blast with it! |

I have one in fiesta red (see avatar). I wanted the blonde, but the local dealer told me that finish was discontinued. Since I get such great after-sale service there, AND he matched the internet price, I ordered this one from him. What a bass! I have an AV '57 with a nicer finish, but I am gigging tomorrow night (for the zillionth time) with this one. It is the best bang-for-the-buck Fender bass.

Regarding your comment, comparing this blond finish and the one on my 10 year old relic start, it seems that the real Closet Classic finish is more sunk into the wood, in the picture you can see the grain of the wood, in real you can actually feel it trough touch, whereas the costume shop relic's finish is just flat, checked, but not sunk in. | Yes, I did notice that graining on your picture of the back. That's why I thought it must be a real '59;although, it looked so mint, I wasn't sure.

Whatever you do have a blast with it! | That's way too complicated for me for the moment, I'm already happy if I can get a decent sound on the PC through the Pandora Mini, but I'm sure in time I will learn about these things. What you do with your mixer is what I try to do with the KORG Pandora. Quote:

Also I'm leaning towards the 60th anniversary because of the composite rods in the neck, because I'll be subjecting it to some low temperatures in the winter (don't like to but I got no choice).

It's more likely the person who owned it before me placed it there. Then again I never asked him so I don't know for sure.

This vintage thing can be a real death trap to newbies like me, there's always one more thing to worry about.

And... | Actually, I'm not that much of a gear head, last guitar / bass I bought before this one was almost 10 years ago, so I won't be surprised if I'm not going to add anything in the coming years (after I got this back up and a decent amp, will try to finish in 2013).
I'd like to see your collection though!
Meanwhile, happy Chinese New Year to everyone at TB!!

...maybe even a hit record!

...maybe even a hit record! | A hit? No way with my playing, I'm already glad I can make it through a 12 bar blues song without stumbling!
But I have a band, we rehearse about twice a year, no pressure whatsoever
