NBD G&L M2000

I got my new "used" g&l tribute m2000 today. It was listed as used from musiciansfriend and described as having scratches in it. It was severely discounted so I rolled the dice. When I got it, the scratches were on the protective plastic covering on the cavity cover. I removed the thin plastic and now I own a mint condition m2000. I absolutely love it. I know it's not popular, but I really think the white with the black/black pickups looks quite fantastic!

If you got a major discount over what they were blowing those out for, you got a major deal.

I'd love to try one of those.

xrockstrongox 02-06-2013 03:53 PM

AHHHH! I didn't notice that chip until I posted the photo!

Oh well, had to happen sooner or later.

Also, Chef, I highly recommend getting one. It really is one of the nicest basses I have played. Everything about it feels great. And I think I got a major deal, what were they blowing them out for?

Chef 02-06-2013 03:56 PM

$399 shipped I believe; with the very nice G&L logo'd gig bag.

xrockstrongox 02-06-2013 04:01 PM

Yup. I got it less. Phew, you almost ruined my buzz! Mine came with the bag too. It really is a very nice gig bag.

Sidenote: nail polish= chip is gone

I like Black on White......very nice!

xrockstrongox 02-06-2013 04:13 PM

The only regret is that it's not the GTB with the black binding!

mpdd 02-06-2013 04:18 PM

really would like to try one of these

NWB 02-06-2013 04:35 PM

I have the M2500 and it rips!

Congrats on the incredible deal an an amazing bass.

Mastermold 02-06-2013 04:37 PM

Who said this color wasn't popular? Looks great to me!

P. Aaron 02-06-2013 05:20 PM

Nice bass. The G & L's I've played have all been solid, nicely built basses.

Congrats!

xrockstrongox 02-06-2013 05:21 PM

Thanks mastermind! Like I've seen on this forum time and time again it's all about what you like and I like white.

kellyrojo 02-06-2013 06:21 PM

Solarmist 02-06-2013 07:31 PM

endy_y_p 02-06-2013 08:25 PM

Congrats for such a beautiful bass!!... :)
Thank God G&L replace G&L Tribute decal on newer bass, very much similar with the US series, I got to have my own M-2000 :bassist:

ps. to a fellow OCD, those nail polish is a great idea :)

irvinz 02-06-2013 09:18 PM

Nice! Join the g&l club yet? :) how heavy is that thing?

xrockstrongox 02-07-2013 03:30 AM

irvinz, I wasn't sure if the g&l club was only for US G&L. It's basswood on the solid finishes, so it's relatively light but definitely sturdy. Unfortunately I don't have an exact weight.

irvinz 02-07-2013 03:47 AM

It's for all mate! If its on the lighter scale of things, I should definitely have a look at them!

xrockstrongox 02-07-2013 04:52 AM

Irvinz, the solid color ones are the basswood. They are the lighter ones, however the translucent finishes on swamp ash sure are pretty. In all honesty, I think I like this more than my l2000. It could be the appeal of a new bass, or the fresh strings, but something about it is just calling to me. I like my tone bright, so I thought the l2000 active/treble boost would be the bees-knees but sometimes it's just too harsh. This is bright without grating and the low and mid control really lets you get a nice tone. To be clear how great it is, I haven't been on ebay, craigslist, or the TB classified since it arrived!

I've been looking for one for sale locally or sound clips online ever since these came out, well Bass San Diego has some clips now that I just heard and DANG! I am having a serious GAS attack. Those things sound growly and beefy in all the right ways and maybe not quite as wooly(???) as the L-2000/ASATs

Congrats, and now I must go on my own hunt for a smoking deal like you got!
