Got a question pica ,, i went by the local GC, getting my son the Avid interface,, and i walk to the bass wall ,, i see about 3 basses that look "like" mine but they have a slightly different finish ,, more dark brownburst with gloss finish,, is yours one of those cause mine is flat finish,, is yours qm? They looked awesome just different.

It sounds like the one with gloss finish was prolly a SR 400 model in charcoal brown.

The GC SR500 has a flat finish.

Yes, mine is a SR500QM. I don't know what the QM stands for though.

I don't understand how GC has that much pull that they can get Ibanez to make special basses just for them. I don't know any other music store that can do that.

They're not the only one, Thomann from Germany had a few customised models as well (mostly entry level BTBs though); I think they do this kind of favour to their major retailers. Prolly giving some special attention to the guyds moving huge loads of Ibanez instruments or something

I'd be curious to know how many they made. I'm sure it's not many.

Well I hate to say it but this bass is going back. As cool as it looks, I just don't like the feel of it. I'm really a Fender guy and that's what I want to get. Thanks for all your nice comments. I'm sure this will go to somebody who will like it more then me.

Sorry to hear that, but in all honesty, if Fenders are your thing, why would you mess with an Ibanez SR? It's as different as it can be from a Fender... anyway...
