NBD: Linc Luthier fretless 5'er is in!

I've lusted after Linc Luthier basses since I first saw one in the '90s. This fretless 5'er came up on ebay with a very low starting bid...and I was the only bidder. Got lucky with this one!

Anyway, here are the pics...

It's in brand-new (practically unplayed condition). I'm fairly certain the strings are the ones the bass originally shipped with. Much better condition than I was expecting based on the ebay listing. The strings are completely dead, so it's hard to get a feel for the tone. But it's very light (semi-hollow) and resonant.

Once I string up some DR Sunbeams, I'll post my impressions. Very excited!

I got a Linc fretless 4 string, I put TI flats on mine and I cant believe how good it sounds. It is my #1 bass by a long shot.

Still haven't gotten around to stringing it up. Linc recommends some odd-ball string gauges and I haven't gotten around to ordering them. I'm going to try DR Sunbeams.

Linc puts the gauges on the case that originally came on the bass. That doesn't mean he recommends them, that's just what it came with. I would stay around that tension/gauge, but no need to be exact.

I have it tuned E-C right now, with a Hipshot detuner that goes down to D. I switched from DR Sunbeams to GHS Pressurewounds, and it sounds way less "tinny", a needed improvement. It's not getting as much play time as my Kinal or my Sadowsky though. I might go back to B-G tuning and use it more frequently.

I can't believe I'm doing this...but I've decided to let it go.

FS: LINC LUTHIER fretless 5'er w/OHSC - MINT - low price

I love it, but it's too close in tone to my U-Bass. One of them had to go, and I'm more emotionally attached to the Leduc.

This sucks
