NBD Medium Scale P Bass

I got this off Ebay. I showed it to a local shop and they said it was an '88. Guessing an Alder body, rosewood board, 7.25 radius, in-between 1.5 and 1 5/8nut. It had an early EMG P5 that I replaced with the stock pickup that came on my 50's classic. I feel very fortunate to have got it with pretty much all the specs I wanted. It set up great, is very punchy but still has some of the deep sound on the E that shorter scales seem to have to my ear.Click image for larger version

Thank you. I thought I was going to have the only NBD thread that no one responded to. For me it's a big deal. My 50's classic feels like a broad sword now. It sound fantastic but for my frame size it's big. This bass looks and sound and feels just right.

Congratulations! You made two errors that will limit responses:

1) You didn't include the word "Fender" in the post title.
2) You included the phrase "medium scale" in the post title.

A very small percentage of TBers like medium scale basses. The rest think that less than 34" aren't suitable, for them at least.

Congrats again on your beautiful new bass! Be sure to locate the Medium Scale Club and post there. They'll like it.

This was my first bass but in black and wish I still had it. These are great basses! What is the scale length on these? I never seen another one like mine and got rid of it before I learned to measure this.

I believe he has a MIJ (CIJ) medium scale P. They still carry them on the Fender Japan website.

Immigrant, thank you for your advice. I inquired about your Aria but the nut width scared me off. Yes this is a MIJ P bass 32" scale. Slightly downsized body. I only found the 30" P bass currently being made in Japan. The 32" ones were Jazz basses but I've only been chasing this bass for the last few months so I haven't found everything.
