NBD: Parts Bass content!

This is my first parts bass experience. Did some of the brainless work myself. Left the bridge mounting, nut installation and grooving and fret dress to the pros.

Solid Mahogany slab P-Bass body (ebay special)
Warmoth Canary neck, bound and blocked
Old G&L MFD P-bass pickups, all passive. Volume and Tone
Fender P-bass pickup cover, rattle canned matte black.
Matte black tuners (with a hipshot D-tuner)
Will likely swap the knobs for standard black knurled knobs. Not sure I dig the amp style knobs.

Built for rock. Sounds like heaven through the '76 SVT and Berg NV610!! It's a ballsy little bastard!

I dig it. Where'd you find the black pickup cover?

Thanks! It's just a Fender pickup cover I ordered online. Sandblasted the chrome finish off and rattle-canned it matte black.

Hmm, is there any way to do this without sandblasting?

Two things... First I can imagine that with that mahogany body and canary neck, that it sounds very crisp and articulate. G&L MFD P-pickup, all the output you want! I bet this is a monster!

Second, if you really want that pickup cover to be black and STAY black, find a shop that does "powder coating". That's the baked-on type of hard finish that's on a kid's "Radio Flyer" wagon, and is used a LOT by motorcycle and car customizing shops. Tough as nails, super wear-resistant, comes in glossy and matte colors.

Badass. I love black hardware on natural wood. Looks great! Probably sounds like a champ!

Other than the amp style knobs and the input jack, it' looks awesome. I think if you're going all out black ,you must have the input jack all black and find solid black knobs.

I agree, but I couldn't find a black input jack anywhere. I figured it will be covered by the cord anyway. I'm waffling on the knobs for sure.

Yuo could hand or machine sand it. Anything to rough up the plating so the new paint will bond properly.

Looks great! Amazing how those different woods really match well. Did you leave the body without a finish? It looks like it.

Actually there are about 4 coats of Tru-Oil finish on the body. No finish on the neck.

that is a pretty slick looking bass. the black hardware looks much better on a natural bass than chrome.

Neutrik makes a black jack that should work for you, I think it would complete the black out look. Its commonly used on amps, but there is no reason it wouldn't work on your guitar.
