NBD Stambaugh 11 string! [Warning: this thread contains ERB content and bass pr0n]

Edit: here's a demo I finally got recorded!
http://youtu.be/FZzSAQIMlls

So I ordered this bass over a year ago, sometime in November of 2011, and it finally came in last monday. I'm a little late, but I didn't want to start the thread 'till I had some good pics.
I will say this. Chris Stambaugh (Stambaugh Designs) is a madman. I'm not sure if there's anything he won't build. From 8-string acoustics, to 11 string basses, he just won't say no. If there's a problem, he works through it. And his prices are ridiculously low. Take your best guess for what an instrument like this should cost, and divide it by at least two. He even surprised me with a few extra things on here I didn't even ask for.
Specs:
11 strings tuned C#0-F#0-B0-E1-A1-D2-G2-C3-F3-Bb3-Eb4
37-32.5" scale with 9/10 fret parallel
Neck through
Maple, Bubinga, Walnut and Figured Mahogany neck woods
Morado fingerboard with flame-maple binding
Morado pickup covers
28 frets
zero fret with graphite bridge
MOP inlay at 27/28th fret
Mahogany body wings
Custom body shape, slightly chambered
Claro Walnut top, back and headstock cap
2 Aero custom split coil pickups
1 aero single coil pickup, covers D2-Eb4 strings
Aguilar OBP-3 preamp
GHOST piezo system with Bartolini piezo buffer
Dual outputs:
Piezo/split coil pickups with Aguilar preamp
Aero single coil pickup with tone and volume control
Hipshot ultralite tuners on C#0-E1 strings
Sperzel tuner on A1 string
Sperzel locking tuners on D2-Eb4 strings
Dunlop recessed straplocks

Pics:

The bass plays beautifully and has amazing sustain!
The controls are:
master volume
neck/bridge pickup blend
treble cut/boost
mid cut/boost
bass cut/boost
mid frequency selector
"guitar" output tone
"guitar" volume
piezo/magnetic blend

It weighs about twenty or so pounds, but it's really not that bad if I'm actually playing and not just standing there holding it. The long scale took no getting used to, and I don't even notice the fanned frets. It just feels natural. Though the neck is monstrously wide, It's not that hard for me to get around on. I can comfortably play all the strings up to the tenth fret, then it starts to taper off about one string every four or so frets. The shape of the neck is pretty comfortable, a sort of widened "C" shape.
The only problem I really have is neck dive. When I'm sitting, I can even up the weight by pressing down with my right arm on the body and pseudo-supporting it with my left hand. Standing is another story, and after an hour or so of playing my left hand and shoulder start to feel it, but I can't say I'm surprised by that.

I'll get soundclips up on this thread one day whenever my classes have settled down.

Dude, that's sick... Whenever I see extended range basses like this, it completely blows my mind. Especially those super fat necks. Nice baby you got there!

I'll try and get a video of me just messing around on it later this weekend. No promises on me being good though... I'm still getting used to this!

Wow - what an awesome bass! That is truely a work of art. Are you going to do a YouTube demo?

Does it really weigh 20lbs?
How wide is the fretboard?

I'll be doing a youtube demo sometime in the next week or so. Potentially tomorrow If I get to bed early enough tonight

I'm only making a rough estimation on the weight, but the shipping info had it at 39lbs in the case with the box and packing material. The bass is definitely lighter than the case, so I'd definitely put it between 16 and 20, pounds. It makes my Warwick feel like a lovely little featherweight.

The fretboard is a little more than 4.5" at the nut, and a little over 6.5" at the 28th fret. This is measuring along the fret. If I were to take the measurement perpendicular with the center line it might be about a quarter inch thinner, but at this size that doesn't make much of a difference. To me at least lol.

Very cool! Thanks for posting the specs and photos of your new Stambaugh...

If you choose to demo this instrument, would you be so kind as to solo the piezos for a bit? I'm really interested in hearing those ghost piezos with your setup.

Same bass Cliff Williams of AC/DC plays.

Seriously, that is killer and you are more of a bassist that I will ever be for even considering ordering this beast!

Enjoy!

Well that's the point of a demo! I'll go over every single detail and ramble a lot and maybe even play it some!
I honestly enjoy the piezo sound. I know most people don't enjoy it too much, but when I do upper register classical finger style stuff it gives it an interesting sound I'm quite fond of.

Geez - that's an inch wider than a 2x6!
