NBD! Vintage Washburn - please help ID

I picked this up today as an impulse buy off of CL. It looks like a 1981 Washburn neck thru with DiMarzios. From what I can tell it is all stock. The owner bought it in 1981 and it has been in his closet ever since. Two minor dings and otherwise excellent cond. The owner called it a "Vulture II."

Can anyone tell me a bit more about it? Is this USA or MIJ? Thanks!

Washburn Force 40. Don't know where they were made.

Edit: A cursory search says Japan is the nation of origin.

OMG! That is the same bass I have, only mine is in blonde. $150 for that is an absolute steal. I would have snagged it myself in a heartbeat had I seen it. I don't recall the original price because I traded two other basses, plus some cash for it in a music store in Madison, WI.

Here is mine. I bought mine in 1981 too. I haven't played much in recent years due to family, career, etc. so it has very little wear, just like yours. Congrats on your snag and if you decide to dump it, let me know.

Also, read this link for more info on the old Washburn basses.

Its a B-40.
Please see the headstock is a Wing series and it has the 4/1 elec package.
You and msact each have a superb example of this bass. Condition is immaculate. You SCORED SO F'IN BIG ON THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am screaming.

Force series started the 4 in-line tuners.

I stand corrected! And thankful that you are so knowledgeable about the matsumoku washburns.
When I was a kid and decided to become a musician and bassist, my first "real" bass was a force 8. I learned to play on that model and to this day that neck profile and body shape just feel like home to me.
