Need help in indetify jb
I bought year ago fender jb japan. The seller dont have information about exactly type of this guitar that's why i write this topic and try to get some information. Today i dissasembly this bass and make some photos. If somebody will know anything about this guitar then i will be grateful.
Below i send a link to this photos. Seller said that this is japan 95 model. Look at the picture of wood. What's the type of wood is it? It's really light.
I'm interested into this as well, since I have MIJ-J from time as OP also.
So I am bumping this one!
Does anyone know what kind of wood is this  (OP's picture bellow)
The wood is probably alder, though it could be poplar. They are very similar in grain. One way to check is to put a drop of ammonia water on the exposed wood in the pocket and let it sit for about 30 seconds. If it turns the wood greenish-gray, it's likely poplar. If it turns rusty brown, it's likely alder.
Looks like a typical production Fender Japan Jazz bass from 1995 - 1996. Doesn't look to be modified. Generally the build quality on these instruments is very good, but they do have some shortcomings. For one, the instrument would benefit from better shielding. And though some like the pickups with bar magnets under the pole pieces, there are more players that prefer individual pole-piece magnets. Often the necks are a bit rubbery, but nice slim profiles if you like that kind of thing.
Usually good value for the price when new and command decent prices used if in good condition.
It very well could be a basswood body. I had several Fender Japan instruments of that era that had basswood bodies.
