New Bass Day: 65/62 RI Jazz Bass Mike Lull fretless conversion

Here is my latest, a 65 RI Noel Redding Signature neck on a CIJ Fiesta Red 62 RI Jazz body with AVRI pickups. Mike Lull did his fretless conversion complete with polyester finish on the board. LOVE IT... Full of mwah-goodness! The coating makes THAT tone. It's my first CIJ and I'm very impressed.

Holy wow that is gorgeous! What strings do you have on it? Fiesta Red/RW is one of my favorite color combos on Jazz Basses.

Strings are Rotosound Swing Bass 40 60 80 100

I tried TI flats on it at first which were cool but I wanted to try Rotos to take advantage of the fretboard coating. The bass truly came alive and the Rotos are there to stay!!

So very nice. Great color combination. Gotta love the classic Fender colors.

Thanks for the comments! Forgot to mention this one is pretty light too, right at 9 lb.
Thinking about having the headstock painted to match the body, in fact I think I'll add a poll to gather some opinions...

I say no way. The bass looks awesome the way it is. Not worth ruining it if it doesnt look the way you are envisioning it. I would try and photo shop it first to make sure you like it.

Seeing that you've already removed the frets, what further harm could you do?

Plus MH Fiesta Red Jazzes are SWEEEEEET!!!!

It's basically a parts bass so there is no worries about ruining authenticity, so I say go for it! That would look killer!!!

Why no carrots?

That's a righteous bass though.

After thinking it over I'm thinking I might just leave it the way it is. I figure the approximate $150 expense (including shipping) would not be worthwhile. As you say it's "just a parts bass" so throwing more money in just doesn't make sense
