New Bass Day: Jackson Kelly Professional, with case: $100

Just picked this up offa CL.

It's a Professional Series Kelly bass. The original pickups were swapped for some bland active EMGs. I plan to sell them (and the rest of the elelctronics, minus the jack) and re-wire it with some DiMarzios and all.

The guy who installed the EMGs was pretty clueless, apprently, as he made a muck of the wiring. Had to rewire the jack and re-ground the whole setup properly.
There's a hole drilled thorugh the body where he messed up (he made a battery clip out of a zip tie), and as a fller I added an LED "battery indicator" for show. The picture doesn't show that.

Well they certainly aren't everybody's thing, but they are good basses.

yep take the emgs out put passives back in and add the j2000 pre into it with a stacked knob so you retain the 3 holes

it'll sound better

I always forget there are more local guys. Sorry about that! I texted him exactly 3 minutes after the ad went up.

dat bass

The guy before you sounds like a total numbskull. Zip tie battery holder? Dafuq? Anyway, how's the neck on yours? Mine feels kinda fat, thinking of having her taken to shave a little excess off, make it more like my JS2 neck, wide but flatter. That sounds like a risky idea, though, since I know a lot of time comes from the neck size. Also: lace pickups. What DiMarzio pups you whack in there?
