It's a good bass. It has a nice sound, looking forward to hearing it amped by my Phil Jones rig. Blond woodgrain, 5 string.
The neck seems large and isn't really comfortable, but no 5 string I've tried is truly comfortable.
I still plan a major road trip to bass shop in the near future, but just not for a few more months.

| | | I used to have one of these, and I miss it. The sound is more then worth the bulky neck. Once you get it dialed in and set up it's a monster in any situation. One of the best sounding basses ever made.
Oh, no pics no bass. |

I had one problem with a loose potentiometer and had to ship it to California for repair. They replaced all the electronics free of charge.
Once the initial setup is made they are great to play. G&L has amazing customer service and really stands behind their products both their MIA and their Tributes that are put together over seas.
The best thing about the L2000/L2500....It is my swiss army knife of basses.... I can dial in just about any sound with it. |

Oh, no pics no bass. | Yup. Definitely a monster. Range of tone you can dial in is amazing. But that's the problem to the new owner. With a forest of knobs and switches it takes a while to learn what every setting does to your sound. But once you get it down...look out!
And my experience with the chunky neck was that when I first got the bass I was complaining like everyone else, but after I lived with it for a while and got used to it, I actually came to prefer it over my flatish Fender V neck. So give it a chance!
And yes, being this is TB you must be harassed until you post a pic of your new score... |

My first pic upload. I uploaded the pic as an attachment. I hope that's how it's done.
Edit: Pic isn't up loading. It appears to let me select a file, looks like it's uploading, but noting appears in the thread.

Either you'll get used to it, or you'll find that some other 5-string necks are comfortable for you (that was true for me - I'd nearly given up on the idea of a 5 after trying the L2500 but tried some others and found my ideal fit).

Just a little advicea. The bass and treble knobs are passive (works in passive mode too) so when they are maxed out they actually are flat. Start with the bass knob at 75% as the bottom end of the instrument is huge.
Just my 2 cents

To really make this bass the jack of all trades you will need the K-single coil mod which you can easily search and get all kinds of info on. Anyway, the L2K is one sick puppy! |

I cant play it for a full gig so I swap back and forth between the L2500 and a four string. Also, I was worried about the neck before I bought it since I bought mine sight unseen, but I have had no issues adjusting to it. I dont have huge hands either, and I find it pretty comfortable. To each his own though. |

This is the bass on my list for a 5er - if I ever go seriously down the 5er road.
Congrats.
