I actually like them both, although they might look nicer in a transparent version of each finish. I think the red is nicer than the Candy Cola they have.

I am surprised they haven't had a light natural (that I can recall) from 2007/2008+ American Standards.

Irish Pub is a lovely colour. If it doesn't become a standard colour in the next few years i will have to go down the custom route.

Why can't Fender put out more trans colours for the "upper end" models? I want to see some trans blues & trans reds, maybe a tangerine?
If they can do it on the Mexican strats, why not the USAs?

The color looks even worse than I thought. Yuck.

I actually don't mind it so much on the Strat. but still not in love with it on the basses. For what it's worth I thought the jade was terrible last year and it's grown on me. Would love a Lake Placid Blue or Sherwood Green or something else but honestly after playing every newer American Standard Jazz I could get my hands I don't see myself buying one new. Until Fender can figure out how to level frets and keep from having the super high frets at the end of the neck they aren't getting my money. I do my own fret leveling and still can't justify spending $1350 on a new bass just to bring it home and have to level, crown and polish the frets. Do love the Custom Shop pickups in the new ones, they sound really good.

...with matching headstock, this new color could be a winner - as all Fender colors...;-)

I think the blue and red are fine....I actually like the blue quite a bit. Let's be glad they didn't make a new shade of yellow...

I think we've turned this thread into Project Runway for basses.

I think the new color is FABULOUS!

Ha Ha,...

For Reds, I like the Candy Cola better then than the Mystic... richer...
My favorite would be a Dakota though...

The new blue does look a little cheaper to me..

Agree they're missing a mark with not having some of the pastels offered... A Sherwood green would be cool...

..oh, and an ash natural with rosewood board... in a 5 string... fretless...

Except for sunburst. Matching sunburst head stocks are right up there with black pearl pick guards for cheese factor. IMHO of course!

I'm voting YES for the new mystic Red and Blue! I saw them at the NAMM show and, in person, the colors are very striking, if you like red and blue. I do agree however, Fender should do more transparent colors on their American series, with matching headstocks!

If anybody pays attention to what the guitarists get, they'll realize how we get the short end of the stick. Sure guitars are popular but there's no reason they can't do something a little more out of the box as far as colors go. Fender doesn't seem to have any trouble putting seafoam green, daphne blue, surf green...etc. on a Strat.
