Just when you start to think that Fender is is listening to its customer base........ BAM............they show up with these.

I held back cash and held off on ordering a Lakland USA specifically to see what happens in 2013. Unless they bust big with the New American Vintage series (old AVRI), looks like my choice will be simple.

Morons.........

People keep mentioning the same colors over and over again. Sonic Blue, Daphne Blue, Surf Green, Seafoam Green, Sherwood Green, Shoreline Gold, Shell Pink, etc. Oh, and painted headstocks.

Are the number of Custom Shop units being sold so significant that they are worried about offending that segment of the market by offering CS colors to we lowly serfs?

I will happily eat my words if the new NAV line turns out to be a killer. But for now ? Pick a finger, Fender. Any finger.

...Still think Phil Lynott had the best concept of colors with his basses - black with metallic pick guard. Surprised Fender has not done a Phil Lynott re-issue something something yet...

I think that some of the more appealing basses are the MIMs in terms of price point, aesthetics and improved build quality IMO. The RW series is top drawer and the Nate Mendel at least looks promising and not as cookie-cutter as the American Standards. Again IMO.

I'm still waiting for a review of the Nate Mendel. With the broken in 1.615" neck profile, Seymour Duncan quarter pound pickups, and Leo Quann Badass II bridge, this thing could be a winner.

There were a couple of threads on it that I've seen surface now and again and I seem to remember it getting fairly positive reviews. Made me GAS for one a little, but I already have a P with quarter pounders in it.

Was there a TB member who purchased one? I don't remember hearing from one. I did see several people expressing interest but, not from anyone who owned one. :^( hopefully an NM owner will chime in with a review at some point if someone hasn't already.

If they came out with a surf green P with a maple board I'd buy it in a minute.

That is a sweet color - especially with an aged pearl or tort guard.

With the right lighting, this color blue looks a little more like the Lake Placid Blue of the 60's.
